Fund A Project

Toys for Thailand has an ambitious plan for 2009-10 targeted at six hill tribe schools in the remote villages of Mae Hong Son: expansion of the rick husking project , installation of soy milk machines, and the purchase of vocational supplies (barber shop and argricultural supplies) and art and instructional materials. New bed construction for the hill tribe children at the Wat Don Chan Orphanage is also planned.

TfT supports hill tribe children through self sustaining projects at their village schools. These tribal children (Aka, Lahu, Hmong, Mien, Shan, Pa-O, Muser, and Karen. face tremendous challenges: dire poverty, drug abuse, racism, cultural erosion, human trafficking, an overall lack of education, and, most importantly, the lack of Thai citizenship.

With your help we can make these things possible. Click here to Donate Now!

Rice Husking Machine - $2000

Rice is the main staple of the hill tribe villages in Thailand . TfT is helping remote hill tribe schools feed their children and support their communities by providing rice husking machiness. Rice husks are the hard protecting coverings of grains of rice. The poor farmer usually have to bring rice to a husking plant and pay for their rice to be husked, but with their own community husking machine, they can efficiently and cheaply husk the rice themselves. Rice husks can be put to use as building material, fertilizer, insulation material, or fuel. A rice husking machine provides both a source of income and a way to feed the school’s pigs, chickens, fish and students for years to come.

Toys for Thailand purchased a rice husking machine for the Kings School in June 2009. The rice husking machine is a TfT model project and will allow the school and community to become self sustaining.
